Pope Francis has invited Catholics worldwide to take part in a Synod entitled: “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission”. Synod means “journeying together” and it involves listening to the Holy Spirit and to each other in order to discern the path we are called to walk together. This synod is intended to inspire people to dream about the Church we are called to be, to make people's hopes flourish, to stimulate trust, to bind up wounds, to weave new and deeper relationships, to learn from one another, to build bridges, to enlighten minds, warm hearts, and restore strength to our hands for our common mission.
The Church asks you to participate in this synod by giving 90 minutes of your time to gather and reflect upon the questions which are being asked. The sessions will begin and end in prayer, and during the session we shall all listen to each other offering their perspectives without judgment.
This synod is for all of us as a Church to reflect upon and give honest testimony to the questions which Mother Church needs to understand. This is not a feedback campaign, a Survey Monkey, or a thumbs-up/thumbs-down process. Nor is it only for our in-person Sunday faithful, or our brothers and sisters with health concerns who livestream every Sunday. It is not only for our volunteers, for our donors, for the old, or for the young. We invite you to join us on this “journey” by attending one of our sessions of listening and dialogue.
